However, the underlying premise that such infusions produce anti-aging or health benefits was never supported by peer-reviewed evidence; Karmazin never published his trial results. In February 2019, the FDA issued a formal warning stating there was "no proven clinical benefit" of young-donor plasma infusions for aging, memory loss, dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, or other conditions being marketed by such companies, and noted the infusions carry infectious, allergic, respiratory, and cardiovascular risks.
