Separately, USDA data show glyphosate-tolerant soybean adoption is strongly associated with a shift to conservation and no-till farming (86% of glyphosate-tolerant soybean acreage under conservation tillage by 2006, versus 36% of conventional acreage), a practice widely credited in the agronomic literature with reducing soil erosion and improving water infiltration rather than causing the runoff and farmland destruction described.
