What the evidence says 01 / RECORD
Federal Election Commission filings disclosed in December 2024 showed Elon Musk was the largest political donor of the 2024 cycle, giving roughly $277 million to back Trump and other Republicans, including about $239 million routed through his pro-Trump super PAC (America PAC) and a related committee. Forbes reported he had put more than $200 million directly into electing Trump, with $193 million of it spent before Election Day. Year-end filings in early 2025 pushed his total 2024 election spending to roughly $288 million. Sanders' figure of $270 million matches the post-election FEC tally reported at the time, so the claim is accurate.
