Hawass says the Step Pyramid of Djoser, built by Imhotep, predates the Great Pyramid by almost 700 years. Djoser's Step Pyramid at Saqqara, designed by Imhotep, is the earliest large-scale Egyptian pyramid and is dated to the Third Dynasty, roughly 2670 to 2630 BCE.

It's called the step pyramid. In the pyramid text, they say that the step pyramid yeah and the pyramid that's the first one in the pyramid text they say that the step pyramid is a stairs that the king is buried underneath to go to heaven and this one was how many years before the Great Pyramid it saw almost almost 700 years

Djoser's Step Pyramid at Saqqara, designed by Imhotep, is the earliest large-scale Egyptian pyramid and is dated to the Third Dynasty, roughly 2670 to 2630 BCE. Khufu's Great Pyramid at Giza was built in the Fourth Dynasty, generally dated to about 2560 to 2550 BCE. National Geographic places the Step Pyramid at around 2780 BCE and Khufu's project at about 2550 BCE, an interval of roughly 230 years, while mainstream chronologies that put Djoser closer to 2630 to 2670 BCE yield a gap of only about 70 to 130 years. No standard chronology supports a separation of nearly 700 years, so the roughly 700-year figure is a substantial exaggeration.
