And I brought forth two resolutions which basically were very simple and said no more US military aid to Israel under these conditions. One vote got 15 votes in the Senate, the other one got 16.

What the evidence says 01 / RECORD

On April 3, 2025, Sanders forced Senate votes on two joint resolutions of disapproval that would have blocked roughly 8.8 billion dollars in US bomb and munition sales to Israel. Both motions to discharge failed by wide margins: S.J.Res.33 was rejected 15 to 82 (Senate roll call vote 165), and S.J.Res.26 was rejected 15 to 83 (roll call vote 166). Sanders's description of two resolutions to cut off military aid to Israel that drew only a small bloc of support is correct, but the specific tally is slightly off: both resolutions received 15 yea votes, not 15 and 16 (the difference of 82 versus 83 was in the nays, not the yeas). His broader point holds, so the claim is largely accurate with a minor numerical error.
