What the evidence says 01 / RECORD

There is no single fixed count of Egyptian pyramids because the total depends on classification (whether ruined mud-brick structures and smaller queens' or secondary pyramids are counted) and because new structures are still being identified. Published tallies commonly range from at least 118 to about 138 identified pyramids, and some sources cite roughly 120. The Smithsonian notes there are more than 100 pyramids in Egypt, with the Giza group (Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure) being only the most famous. Hawass's figure of 120 falls within the accepted range and correctly conveys that Egypt has far more than the single Khufu pyramid, though it should be read as an approximation rather than a precise total.
