There was this recent study that was done that showed 100% of placentas that were dissected had microplastics in them.
What the evidence says 01 / RECORD
A 2024 University of New Mexico study (Garcia et al.), published in Toxicological Sciences, used pyrolysis gas chromatography mass spectrometry to analyze 62 human placental samples and detected micro and nanoplastics in every one of them (62 of 62, 100 percent), at concentrations ranging from about 6.5 to 685 micrograms per gram of tissue. Polyethylene was the most common polymer (about 54 percent), followed by PVC and nylon. The study confirms the claim that 100 percent of the dissected placentas contained microplastics. The authors note the health effects of these levels remain unknown, so the finding establishes ubiquitous presence rather than a demonstrated harm.
