The Maui Police Department released a preliminary after-action report on its response to the August 2023 Lahaina wildfire in February 2024. That 98-page report made 32 recommendations, not 92, and a final version released in 2025 added three more for a total of 35. The framing is otherwise accurate: the report dealt exclusively with the police response, and MPD stated it would be shared with law enforcement agencies across the nation so they could benefit from the lessons learned. The count of 92 is roughly triple the actual figure.
