What the evidence says 01 / RECORD

Tim Pool asserted that approximately 800 instances of Trump supporters being physically attacked for wearing MAGA hats have occurred, implying a large, underreported pattern of anti-Trump political violence. No news organization, watchdog group, or law-enforcement database has published a tally anywhere near 800 such incidents; contemporaneous journalism from around the time of this 2019 podcast, such as Newsweek's running list of MAGA-hat-related confrontations, documented only a handful of individually named cases, not hundreds. The Eugene, Oregon incident Pool cites in the same breath is the January 2019 shooting at Cascade Middle School, in which Charles Landeros, a parent involved in a custody dispute who was wearing a "Smash the patriarchy and chill" T-shirt, not a MAGA hat, fired at a police officer before being fatally shot; even in the transcript, Pool himself describes the shirt, so this incident does not depict a MAGA-hat wearer being attacked and does not support an "800 instances" pattern. No verifiable source substantiates an 800-incident figure.
