Harris and her campaign have said she worked at a McDonald's on Central Avenue in Alameda, California, in the summer of 1983, running the register and fry and ice cream machines. McDonald's corporate has not confirmed or denied her employment; a company memo circulated to franchisees said McDonald's and its franchisees "don't have records for all positions dating back to the early '80s," which fact-checkers note is not equivalent to a denial. No McDonald's manager or franchise owner has gone on record stating Harris never worked there.
